Gochar — the current position of each of the nine grahas in the sidereal zodiac: the sign, the degree within it, the nakshatra and pada, and whether it is retrograde. Pick any date to see the sky as it was, or will be.
Positions are sidereal (nirayana), using the Lahiri ayanamsa, which is why they differ from Western horoscope columns by about twenty-four degrees. Rahu and Ketu are the Moon's nodes, shown at the mean node as most Indian software does; they always sit exactly opposite each other and always move backwards. A planet marked R is retrograde — appearing to move backwards against the stars from Earth's point of view. The Sun and Moon never retrograde.
Transits matter relative to your chart: the same Saturn in Meena is a different thing for someone with the Moon in Kumbha than for someone with the Moon in Simha. The dosha check tells you whether Saturn's current transit is your Sade Sati.
